As was frequently the case, Patterson tried to assist his fallen opponent. I've noticed Dempsey did the same. I think Floyd understood the sense of humiliation in being knocked out, lying on the canvas, exposed to the world. Paradoxically, it was important to protect the man he'd put in that situation- one he knew himself from personal experience. He was a gentle man in a violent trade.

Maxim was still a good, solid fighter. Excellent jab (though my father thought it was ludicrous to compare it to a maxim gun). Also a solid right hand, especially inside with the uppercut. Cus must have had a lot of confidence in Floyd to match him so tough so early in his career. Though some deny this here, Floyd does look smaller than Maxim. At 168 he's a muscular but still slender kid with more filling out to do-- nowadays a "super-middleweight." Excellent bout and since there is only half the bout here, it's hard to tell if it really was a bad decision.

The greatest left hook ever thrown in a professional boxing ring - thrown by the greatest fighter to ever lace them up. Always worth revisiting to see how it should be done by THE expert in the squared circle - thanks for uploading.

The man who destroyed boxing with foolery bouts making it all about the money. Bobs comments on mayweather vs. Castillo 1 sealed the fight for floyd. Although many claimed (including announcers), castillo was definitely up in points, and they felt he had won. I believe it was the reason floyd fought castillo again. Plus, Chavez had a better undefeated record before any losses.

This is a brutal great fight a heavyweight Hagler vs Hearns fight. You don't try to knockout Sonny Liston in the 1st round. Forget Liston vs Ali 2. Liston in his prime would knockout a Joe Frazier or Mike Tyson early. Liston also could box. Great left jab 84 inch reach. Liston had more reach then Williams announcer wrong here

Foreman was never a technical sound fighter. He was big and strong and maybe he thought that was good enough. The punch-combination--putting punches together--was almost never there or awkward at best. Not much of a defense to speak of, head movement, nothing, and we can see how this guy here (whom I never heard of before) could land punches on Foreman's face with no difficulty. The way of blocking punches is not something of a beauty either but...to his credit, he was one of the hardest punchers and that gave him world championship.
